Using the Lessons of the Holocaust to Counter Hate and Radicalization

Project Aladdin, in partnership with UNESCO, has been holding a series of international conferences on how the lessons of the Holocaust should be taught to counter hate, prejudice and radicalization in the contemporary world and to help promote a culture of peace and mutual respect. Attended by academics, scholars, educators, government officials, students and civil society actors, these conferences have so far taken place in Turkey, Senegal, Azerbaijan, and Morocco, each time with the participation of the host nation’s Minister of Education. Azerbaijan, Senegal and Morocco have since taken historic steps to include texts in their school programs that reflect the recommendations of these conferences. More conferences are planned in the Persian Gulf, Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and South-east Asia.
