Together with its partner, the Basel-based Anne Frank Foundation, Project Aladdin hosted a dinner in Cannes on July 9, 2021, to mark the world premiere of the animated film “Where’s Anne Frank?”, directed by the acclaimed Israeli director Ari Folman. 

The film, in the  ”Official Selection” of the Cannes Film Festival, follows the journey of Kitty, the imaginary friend and confidant of Anne Frank, in modern-day Amsterdam. Through Kitty’s quest to find her missing friend, director Folman conveys a deeply human message: we must never stop fighting violence, hate and bigotry. 

Ari Folman and the co-producers of the film, Yves Kugelmann and Jani Thiltges; UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay; World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder; Project Aladdin’s Leah Pisar and Eric de Rothschild; and Anne Frank Foundation President John Goldsmith were among the guests at the dinner. 

Project Aladdin later organized a screening of the film in Paris on October 5, 2021, and is working with UNESCO, both educational partners, to disseminate the film in educational establishments to raise awareness of the dangers of intolerance and hatred.
