HOW THE YOUTH IS CHANGING THE MIDDLE EAST – A DISCUSSION WITH RENOWNED SAUDI PERSONALITY DR ABDULAZIZ SAGER

Among the other speakers, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sager, Founding President of the Gulf Research Center in Saudi Arabia, was interviewed by Yves Kugelmann, President of Project Aladdin Europe. Dr Al-Sager, a respected figure on the international stage, reminded the students that young people have immense power to shape a better future, particularly by defending essential values such as tolerance, solidarity and environmental protection. In his view, these ideals are not merely abstract concepts, but driving forces capable of transforming our societies in concrete ways. He stressed that the involvement of young people in these areas is crucial, not only to meet today’s challenges, but also to build a fairer and more sustainable world.

Taking the example of his own country, Saudi Arabia, Dr. Al-Sager explained that young people there play a central role as drivers and catalysts of social and economic change. This process of evolution not only makes it possible to respond to contemporary challenges, such as the ecological transition or social inclusiveness, but also to overcome the obstacles that his own generation has often found difficult to face. He stressed that this dynamic of transformation is an encouraging sign of young people’s ability to take on global issues with a fresh vision and innovative solutions.

He stressed the importance of learning from the mistakes of the past, calling for them not to be repeated, while expressing marked optimism about the progress already made and the social changes underway, driven by the energy and creativity of the younger generations. For him, the future lies in this ability to combine innovation and historical learning, in order to build fairer and more resilient societies.
