Morocco and Project Aladdin to launch an annual “encounter of minds” in Tangier in June 2022

Project Aladdin’s Leah Pisar and Abe Radkin were received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Morocco in Rabat, on August 17, 2021, by Minister Nasser Bourita for a constructive exchange on Morocco’s central role in the fight against hate and extremism and promotion of intercultural and interfaith dialogue. Ambassador Mohamed Methkal, Director General of the Moroccan International Cooperation Agency (MICA), also attended the meeting.

The Minister spoke about the Moroccan tradition of tolerance and non-discrimination in the region and attributed this unique feature to the fact that the Sovereign of the Realm is the “Commander of Faithful” and guarantor of freedom of worship.

Minister Bourita welcomed a proposal by Project Aladdin to organize jointly an annual event in Morocco, entitled The Tangier Dialogue, to bring together thought leaders, intellectuals, and experts for an in-depth, frank, and result-oriented discussion on the various aspects of the relationship between the Muslim world and the West.
